What better way to celebrate National Stop Food Waste Day than to shoutout this incredible Durango organization?! Table to Farm Compost works to decrease CO2 emissions by offering residential and comercial services to make composting simple. They transform your food scraps into living soil that sequesters carbon from the atmosphere down into the group, creating a rich soil that supports plant health and adds to the soil food web that keeps plant life alive and healthy.

The average person throws away 20 pounds of food each month. By taking a part in Table to Farm Compost’s mission, you can do your part to fight against climate change and keep excess CO2 out of our atmosphere via food waste.

So far, 2,065 tons of CO2 emissions have been diverted by Table to Farm Compost! To keep increasing this number, think about getting involved! Happy Earth Day! 🌎 What better way to celebrate than to share with you all the proof in the pudding (or ice cream, if you will) about the data showing the outstanding results of our reusable efforts via the Bring It campaign!

I recently put together this data for a presentation to DHS’s Green Team, and here is what I found:

Ever since we’ve launched the “Bring It” discounts, I was greatly encouraged to find that we’ve diverted 2,616 disposables (cups/spoons/straws) from the landfill, and our longstanding reusable “growler” jar program has diverted more than 7,000 pint cups from the landfill since 2020 alone!

We encourage every customer who walks through the doors to bring their own utensils, containers, straws, shake cups, and growler jars. As a reminder to how the campaign works, and what the discounts are, the Bring It discounts are 50 cents off for BYO spoon, $1 off for BYO shake cup, and 25 cents off for BYO straw. Meanwhile, refilling a growler jar costs $9.09, 16 percent less than our paper pints and the jar holds 25 percent more ice cream. There is a $8.11 deposit on the jar, which is refundable if you decide you no longer need it!

At Cream Bean Berry, we do everything we can to give back to our planet while providing delicious, genuine ice cream made from local and authentic ingredients. The Bring It campaign encompasses these goals by keeping trash out of our landfills, and encouraging our customers to do so as well, all while saving you money!
